Nadine

Howieson

Nadine Howieson, a Puerto Rican artist, whose focus is abstract surrealist drawing. With an AA in Fine Art from SantaFe College, Nadine's artistic expression shines through diverse mediums like eye makeup, nail polish, ink, and acrylic paints. Her creations intricately explore themes of mental health, femininity, mythology, and the environment. Drawing inspiration from dreams, nature, and the occult. Her art beautifully merges glyphs, symbolic linguistics, biomorphic lines, and organic shapes, reflecting influences from Bauhaus and Art Nouveau movements. Nadine's work is a captivating blend of creativity and depth, inviting viewers into a world of rich symbolism and artistic ritual. T is for… reflects on current events through fragmentation and distortion. Stark black and white contrasts, along with chaotic brushstrokes, evoke psychological turbulence. A silhouetted figure prompts contemplation of our present state.

"T is for...."

When Chaos writes its own langage

"T is for…" reflects on current events through fragmentation and distortion. Stark black and white contrasts, along with chaotic brushstrokes, evoke psychological turbulence. A silhouetted figure prompts contemplation of our present state.

In T is for…, Nadine Howieson explores a raw and instinctive visual language, where marks, stains, and gestures seem to form an unfinished alphabet. Black ink dominates, cutting through the surface with urgency, while a fragile band of green attempts to hold the composition together.

The work feels both constructed and accidental, as if meaning is constantly slipping away. The letter “T” becomes open-ended—standing for tension, trace, or transformation—inviting the viewer to complete the narrative.

Friendship appears in fleeting connections between lines, while resistance emerges through the act of marking, insisting, repeating. Within Artist in Chaos, this piece embodies the moment where disorder becomes expression: where chaos does not destroy meaning, but invents a new one.
